Literature Text

You had once heard the term tsundere to describe someone. You didn’t know what it meant, so, out of curiosity, you looked it up.

Tsundere: a person who is initially cold and even hostile towards another person before gradually showing his or her warm side over time.

You could think of a person like that – someone who had shown you their warm side no less. Smiling warmly to yourself, you thought of your matesprit Orphaner Dualscar. You were, in a way, special to him (as not many people were). He never gave much care to people beneath him seeing as how he was royalty, and you, well, you were not, and that was just one of the things that made this relationship so strange and confusing. But somehow you were special to him – even if he was never quite sure how to show it – which he rarely did because it was not something he would very often show. You were smart and kind and always smiling, even to people who were too proud for their own good like him. But you had a bit of a witty side that could occasionally get you into trouble, and yet it was that very side that seemed to be able to put him in his place. And it seemed no matter how hard he tried, he could never be rid of you. Even if you weren’t around, you were plaguing his thoughts after maybe ten or so minutes apart.

Yes, you were in love and he loved you back very much. There was very little he truly cared about, so that meant that you were truly something special. But the two of you were far from the perfect matespritship. You fought a lot due to your conflicting natures – usually him choosing to save his reputation and ego while you preferred doing what was right. He was infuriating for you, and that was evident to anyone who saw the two of you interact.

It was a difficult relationship. Anyone who didn’t know of your matespritship would just assume the two of you were rivals or friends with a very strong and frustrating sexual tension hanging thickly in the air. But it wasn’t all bad. He had his admirable qualities. He was very smart. You were one of those people whom loved it if your very special someone was intelligent and commanding (but not necessarily extremely demanding). You liked that about him too. He wasn’t spineless and was sure and confident. You found confidence appealing. It was alternately cute and annoying that your admiration of such traits boosted his already too big ego.

He could bring out the worst in you, and, more often than not, he did. But one of the main things that made you love him all the more was that he took the bad things about you in stride. He loved you at your worst and at your best as opposed to only at your best. The same could be said for you, and while such things didn’t normally matter to him, it mattered whenever it came to you. He always worried that his short temper would one day drive you off – though his pride wouldn’t let him admit it – but you always reassured him that you were his for good and that there was no one else but him that you wanted – this also helped to put his jealousy at ease though not completely. It was another one of those things that was alternately endearing and infuriating (but only when it got out of hand).

Another thing that made everything so difficult was how different your personalities were, but some differences weren’t necessarily a bad thing; some of them were a few of the things that kept the two of you going strong. For example, he was a serious person. Very serious. And while you were no goofball, you enjoyed a good joke. You liked to joke around a bit, and he wasn’t as keen on jokes as you were. But he did find your laugh rather endearing, and he let you joke around if only to be able to hear it or to see you smiling – you were most beautiful to him when you were smiling and happy. And sometimes there were very rare moments where you were able to get him to crack a smile (even if it was a very small one) or even chuckle (even if it was a very quick one). You found it a great accomplishment to get him to do such small acts or gestures, and you also found it cute when he tried to pass off a bit of a laugh as clearing his throat.

Another example existed in how your personalities had changed for the better. While proud and stubborn, Dualscar was not as proud and headstrong after being with you. He was, if anything, a bit more likeable, or rather it was that he was just a bit more tolerable this way. You were witty, yes, however confidence wasn’t always your strong suit. He certainly helped with that. The two you may have differed in many ways that would have seemed, to anyone else, like relationship killers, but your love still burned strong.

Another thing was that it was tough to get him to say “I love you.” He rarely said it, and you seemed to say it all the time. But… it was perfect this way. Dualscar loved hearing your voice, and he loved hearing you say how much you loved him even more. You very rarely heard him express feelings that conveyed affection of any sort, so it was extremely meaningful for you to hear him say those three powerful words – even more so since they were directed at you.

If anyone had to describe your relationship, they would probably use the words: odd, confusing, entertaining, or the two of them are in a matespritship?! But probably the best way to describe such a matespritship would be bittersweet.
This is a request by :iconke13: dedicated to their friend :iconcherried-lace:. I hope I did okay. I've never really been into Homestuck, but my friend is trying to get me into it (it's kind of working). If I don't get into it, I can certainly say that this will be my last Homestuck fic (as they are extremely difficult to write when you know nothing about the characters).

Anyway, if you would like a reader-insert as well, then it's ten points per fic. Please stick to Hetalia, Creepypasta, Ouran High School Host Club, and Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji) please.
