Levi x Reader: Worth the Wait

Everyone at some point reaches the moment where they say “Fuck this shit. I’m done.” Levi was no exception. He was completely and utterly done with bending over backwards for relationships that didn’t progress. He was in his thirties and was ready to settle down, but no one he showed any interest in was ever serious. Perhaps it was because they were women close to his age trying to squeeze in their last bit of 20’s fun before they had to except that in another ten or twenty years they wouldn’t look quite as alluring in their skin-tight sequin dresses. It had gotten to the point where he was done with it all. That was around the time that Levi became a bit of a womanizer. He didn’t care to get into serious relationships anymore, and he made this much clear when picking up some girl he met in a bar.

But then you walked into that bar one night. A young twenty something in a tight, sequin dress that you filled out better than most women he had seen in similar ensembles. Maybe it was because you carried yourself with the confidence of a woman who knew what she wanted and knew that she was going to get it. A large difference from the other young women who always hung back a bit in their uncertainty, desperate to please for fear of leaving empty-handed where as you wouldn’t settle for anything less than what you wanted. You would prefer leaving empty-handed to getting some shitty one night stand. That was the confidence you exuded. And that was why Levi felt such a sudden attraction to you that clenched him tightly round the heart and sent hot waves of arousal down to his groin.

Steely gray eyes watched your form, briefly lingering on the swish of your hips before trailing up your curves and over your chest to a pair of full lips pulled into a confident smirk. His eyes lifted to yours, a pair of __e/c__ eyes full of self-assurance that could make any person who stared into them too long tuck their tail between their legs and feel like an ant. Levi felt his own lips curl into a smirk.

It turned into the usual routine. He ordered a drink for you and began to make small talk. And it went… surprisingly amazing. You swore about as much as he did. You weren’t offended by his blunt nature and crude humor. You found it refreshing to be honest. Initially, you were certain this would go like it always did – guy tries to seduce you with his charm and wit and suave personality so you can repay him with your body only for him to be brutally shot down. But that wasn’t how it happened at all. He wasn’t afraid to show his true nature, and you were so thankful to have someone who didn’t try to bullshit his way into your panties. You were still expecting him to want to know if you wanted to run off to a hotel. But he never did. And to be honest, he had forgotten. You were actually a satisfying conversation partner, opinionated and outspoken, so he had forgotten to ask if you wanted to run off. He only remembered when he returned to his apartment, realizing that he wouldn’t be sharing his bed with anyone for the first time in quite a while. He returned to that bar constantly, hoping to see you again. He wouldn’t admit it if you asked him, but he thought about you quite a bit. You were smart, witty, and sexy. And you were a goal.

Levi wasn’t sure what he was doing wrong. You seemed to enjoy yourself when yo spent time with him, but when he put it out there that he wouldn’t screw up your life and only wanted a quick night of sex – a very tempting offer – you said no. He tried changing it up a bit, acting how you expected him to the night you met him. If anything, you were less responsive to that than his usual rude self. Finally he tossed out the bullshit asking you if you liked him at all. You answered yes. He asked if you would like to have sex with him just once no strings attached. You said yes. He was confused and after some time, he finally asked if you were into that kind of thing, and to his surprise, you said no. Ah, so that was it.

“I’m won’t bullshit you,” he said finally as the two of you sat at the bar chatting as usual, “I really want to fuck you right now.” You laughed lightly but knew he was being serious. “So what would it take?”

“Asking me out on a date or four wouldn’t hurt.”

“Date?”

“I’m not easy. I like to take things slow. If I like what I see, you can be sure I’ll stick around.”

“I think you will.”

“I’m a bit doubtful about that.” Levi frowned at you.

“What makes you say that, brat?”

“I’ve heard that you’re a womanizer.”

“Tch. And what? Are you on a mission to change me? Is that it?”

“No.” Once again you had taken Levi by surprise. “I’m going to tell you now, that if you don’t plan on starting a serious relationship, then this is all we’ll ever do. Sit, talk, and have drinks.” There was that confidence again, and Levi knew that if he decided to pursue you, he wouldn’t be disappointed. You were what he had given up on finding so long ago.

You curled into Levi’s chest sleepily. The two of you were lying on top of the covers of your bed, fully clothed. Levi hadn’t imagined that this is what it would be like. He had so desperately wanted to ravage you before, but now he didn’t have that urge anymore. He was content with this, just being near you, knowing you were his. Somewhere in the next few months during the moments the two of you spent at the bar, at each other’s homes, on dates, he found himself falling deeper under the trance you put on him the night he first laid eyes on you. Feeling emotions that were wilder than what he would convey in his facial expressions. Bubbly feelings that were giddy in nature that made his heart pound against his ribs and made blood rush into his cheeks – not something he was used to. Maybe he was in love. He wasn’t sure. He pulled you closer to his body feeling his heart skip a beat at having you so close to him. Yeah. He was in love.
